Looking for a comfortable, affordable, and well-connected place to enjoy your retirement?
Bulgaria offers non-EU retirees the opportunity to obtain a long-term residence permit if they receive a pension from Bulgaria, their country of origin, or another country, and can demonstrate sufficient financial means to support themselves.
With its lower cost of living, favourable climate, vibrant cities, peaceful coastal and mountain regions, and convenient access to the rest of Europe, Bulgaria is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for international retirees.
Application Bulgarian Type D visa
The process usually starts with an application for a Bulgarian Type D visa, followed by an application for long-term residence after arrival in Bulgaria. Applicants must generally provide evidence of their pension entitlement, suitable accommodation, valid medical insurance, sufficient funds, and a Bulgarian bank account through which pension payments can be received.
The residence permit is typically issued for one year and may be renewed repeatedly, provided that the legal requirements continue to be met.
