Trade Representation Office
A Trade Representation Office, commonly referred to as a TRO, is one of the most popular residence options for foreign entrepreneurs and business owners who want to establish a presence in Bulgaria without immediately incorporating a full operating company.
A TRO is registered with the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It allows a foreign company to explore the Bulgarian market, build partnerships, promote its services, and represent its business interests in the country. Although the representation office is not a separate legal entity and cannot generate its own profit, it may enter into contracts on behalf of the foreign company and may employ staff.
Attractive for foreign companies
This route can be especially attractive for foreign companies that want to test the Bulgarian and EU market, meet local partners, or develop commercial relations before expanding further.
Up to two representatives of one Trade Representation Office may apply for residence permits in Bulgaria. The usual process includes registration of the TRO, application for a Visa D, and then application for prolonged residence before the Migration Directorate.
End-to-End Business Set-Up
Zara Consult can support the full procedure, including preparation and legalization of corporate documents, registration with the Chamber of Commerce, preparation of the activity programme, and residence application.
If your foreign company is considering a business presence in Bulgaria, Zara Consult can structure the process from registration to residence.
